The ideal time to explore Tung Fort is during the post-monsoon season which is from October to February. During this period, the surroundings are bright and green, and the weather remains pleasant, making the trek enjoyable.

From Pune:

- By Road: Lonavala is accessible from Pune via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. After reaching Lonavala, you can hire a local taxi or take a bus to reach the base village of Tung Fort trek.

- By Rail: Local Trains frequently connect Pune to Lonavala. From Lonavala railway station, you can proceed to the base village by hiring a taxi or taking a local bus or rickshaw.

From Mumbai:

- By Road: Reach Lonavala via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and then proceed to the base village by taxi or bus or you can take your own vehicle too.

- By Rail: Regular trains operate between Mumbai and Lonavala. From Lonavala, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach the trek's starting point.

The nearest bus stop to Tung Fort is Lonavala Bus Stand, and the closest railway station is Lonavala Railway Station.
