Monsoon in Maharashtra is a magical time when all the landscapes transform into a lush green paradise. The Western Ghats and the Konkan region come alive with magnificient waterfalls, mist-covered hills, and rejuvenated rivers. As a seasoned traveller, I've explored the state extensively during the monsoon season and so!!! I'm thrilled to share with you the 10 best places to visit in Maharashtra during this enchanting time of the year.
1. Malshej Ghat:
- Located just a few hours from Mumbai and Pune, Malshej Ghat is a monsoon heaven. Beautiful valleys, misty mountains and hundreds of waterfalls make it a perfect destination for nature lovers.
2. Lonavala and Khandala:
- These twin hill stations are perhaps the most famous monsoon destinations in entire Maharashtra. The beautiful Sahyadri hills and the iconic Tiger Point along with other local sites are must-visit spots.
3. Bhandardara:
- Situated in the Sahyadri Range, Bhandardara is known for its serene lakes and the mighty Arthur Lake. The Wilson Dam, Randha Falls and the Ratangad Fort are all worth exploring in the monsoon season.
4. Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar:
