Hi All, so as discussed in the last blog, let's find all the answers to the expenses that were taken care of during our trip to Karnataka.

Now since, we had to travel to Panvel in order to board on our train to Kumta, we spent around 275/- each on our cab. The cab was from local rental firms and we bargained a bit as well.
The train tickets were around 1k each and we managed with the sleeper class of the Indian railways, which was pretty clean and decent to travel for almost 11 hours.
The best part about this train travel was the amazing scenes which we could witness. Greens, Blues and fresh air everywhere.
Once we reached Kumta, we took a shared rickshaw to reach the Kumta bus stop from where we took local bus to travel to Honnavar, It just costed us around 35/- per head. We then rented cab form the rest fo the 4 days since we had to cover Yana caves, waterfalls near Yana caves, the Jog falls, the hidden areas near and around the village of Jog falls, Murudeshwara temple, Gokarana and few other spots. The cab rentals charged us 1200 for a day, so we just spent around 200 to 300 per day for the car and fuel of around 1500/- each day, which again contributed to 300 per head.
The stays that we picked were basic homestays which had comfortable beds with 2 sharing, a clean bathroom and very average view and appearance. However, they were clean and decent enough to spend a night after a dreadful travel, trek and trails. It again costed us 200 to 400/- each day.
We preferred having authentic south indian thalis in lunch and dinner at very basic restaurants everytime. They were unlimited thalis and were not charged more than 120/- for each thali. The taste was really good. We faced some issue with the taste of the rotis since they were very different from what we have in maharashtra, but then the rice sufficed it anyway :)
For breakfasts, we went to very basic stalls which gave very tasty and hot fresh served idlis and dosa for just 30 to 80 rupees. They has their those authentic south indian taste and the chutneys were just amazing!! We always made sure we atleast have 2 plates of Idli or dosa so that our tummies are full and that we dont need to munch on some junks until we have our lunch. We also made sure, we carried electral powder with us everytime, because we went to many off beat treks which were challenging physically and mentally as well.
We expected extremes rains in this period since we were in the tropical rainforest area, but surprisingly it was all dry and and sunny there. We did enjoy this weather as well, but somehow still missed the heavy rains with chai vibes.
We did visit a very beautiful and a bit expensive shack on the 5th day of our trip to Gokarna at the Kudle beach. Common! even we deserved a slow beach sunny day with some mojitos and gin and some really yummy continental food. We almost spent 500 to 600 each just on this day for the food and other mini shopping on the beach, but it was really worth it.
I hope, this blog really helps you whenever you plan your next trip to Gokarna and maybe with its hep you can plan your budget as well.
Thank you and have a lovely day!!!
