Celebrating Ganeshotsav in the best manner

So the most favourite festival is arriving soon. Yes you guessed it right!!! That's Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganpati Bappa will be visitng our homes and blessing us very soon.

So this time, we planned to celebrate and decorate Ganpati in a unique way.

Firstly, the most important thing that we did is we avoided buying the Ganesh idols which are made up of POP i.e Plaster of Paris. Because these idols do not get decomposed properly and contribute to a huge amount of pollution. Every year, if you visit any of the sea shores and the rivers where Ganesh idols visarjan occurs, you will find many Ganesh idols not decomposed properly. It's a disrespect to the great deity itself. Hence, one other option is buying complete decomposable clay idols. These idols may not be as fancy as the ones made of PP, but they do look very heart warming. However, even this not the option we went for.

This year we have planned to prepare our own idol and that too from the soil of our own garden. No wonders there would be much time required and some creative hands and skills too but I feel this is the best possible way to make your own Ganpati Bappa and welcome him to our homes.

The process is really simple, just get any soft clay red soil from nearby land or garden and with the help of water start mouding it in a way that you wish to so that it finally looks like a real Ganesh Idol. You can keep in pure red or also can paint the way you want. Acrylic colors are the best paint to use for painting the idols. Some might find oil paints more attractive. There is no harm in using any of these. Just make sure you try to make your idol more natural and realistic.

For the decoration, this year we would be simply using banana leaves. No plastic flowers, no thermocol Makhar and no other non biodegradable materials which would be used in the decoration of the idol. Simple marrygold flowers, hibicus floers, jasmine flowers and banana leaves along with any other choie of biodegradabale organic material would make your set up look extremely aesthetic and natural. This would also vbe very unique from other basic ecoration setup.

I am trying to pin some pictures of how the set up would look like, Lhope you find this helpful

Keep showing lovw by sharing this to your friends and plan a complete unique Ganesh festival this year.

Lots and love and do not forget to share yummy modaks!!!
